Good ole Cass

The dog I thought I never liked.... died March 1st, and I realized I really did like her :)

She was a great dog for these kids, easy going and usually full of energy.

We had a lot of great trips down to the beach, a lot of fetching, and a lot of hiking.

We made a cross for her and left her chain on it outside the cabin.

We had a great weekend remembering her and enjoying this place of solace.

Rest in Peace Cassy

Oklahoma

Jake had his "State Fair" this last week at school.  You may ask "why" Oklahoma?  No one we know lives there....we have never visited the state.....  But, Kevin Durrant plays for the Oklahoma NBA team!  Reason enough for Jake to pick it!!!

This was such an intense project.  The kid worked on it for weeks.  When Jake was done he had a three page typed paper about Oklahoma, their government, products, agriculture, population, sights to see.... and much more!

Yes, I learned that Oklahoma has the most tornadoes in the United States per square mile :)

For their presentations, they had to bring in at least five products representing Oklahoma, make a brochure, and dress in a costume to represent the state.

Earz Peered

That's what we call it at our house, and look who got it done!

She was so brave, but at one point i noticed she was just holding her breath, and thought to myself.....she's gonna pass out! So once we addressed the breathing 'thing' she really did great!

She picked her birthstone for her earring studs.

And I'm sure this shows my age, but I was just astounded that this cost 50$$$. Crazy!

I added the last pick just for fun: This is Avery and Grace "playing around". That hurt a lot worse coming off!

Happy Birthday Gramfield

My mom's mom would have been 100 on Feb 9th. My mom, sister, and I went to celebrate by going antiquing, and lunch. This is what my birthday "gift" was from my mom, an antique scale. Hill got a beaded purse and bird necklace....
My mom also found some really cool paper flowers that she bought.... As it so happened, on Sat morn when I went to my home page there was a video tutorial for them! What a coincidence....or not!

I made these this morning for my kid's teachers for Valentine's day.

PS - I also learned that Gramfield used to make ginger bread men cookies and to hang them she would tie the ribbon around their neck! Funnest laugh of the day was over that one!

I got bored with Red

I loved the red for years..... but that's just it, it had been years and I got bored. I got inspired from some bloggers who had done whole walls of black chalkboard paint. And after weeks of thinking about it just took the plunge. It's just paint right?

Before (last Christmas):

Taped:

Gotta say, I LOVE this black!!

Kids covering the whole wall with chalk. This is recommended before using the wall to write on.
