8

I can't believe this little girl is eight.

This kid is truly the light of my life most days!

Things about Avery:
She loves to read (currently reading Judy Moody)
She is a good sharer
She is so patient with her little sister
She is kind hearted
She hates to have her hair brushed
She loves listening to Mindy Gledhill and Miranda Crossgrove
She unloads the dishwasher by herself
She got an aquatic frog for her birthday
She can fall asleep at the drop of a hat

In true girl fashion we went to get our toenails done.

They were all loud and excited. Screaming and singing to music on the way there, but as soon as they sat down in the chairs, they acted as if they were in a library....no one talked. They all sat quietly. It was the funniest thing.

We're so lucky to have three of these girls live right across the street from us....and the other two within a mile of us. This has been such a wonderful childhood experience for Avery (and me) to have a "playground" of kids right out our door....and great kids at that!

They each got a design that was totally like their personality!

And topped it off at "Yo Top It".

We're the Same Age

We're the same age for one month of the year. I know can you believe it? I ask myself how my mother coped with this throughout our childhood???? She is a Saint, but we will save that for another blog post.

I had been trying to get a "good" picture of Hill and me the whole night..... And in looking through what I got, I decided that these were the best because this is what we are usually doing. Laughing (Bri refers to it as cackling). These pictures are more telling than the better posed ones. They are telling of our sisterhood (only wish all the other sisters could have been there, Kir, Mags, Denise).

She said tonight that when she gets old that she wants to live by me, not with her kids (you had to be there for that funny conversation! She's not letting her kids get her things DI ready!). What better compliment?

On a talk show the other week a guest was talking about a conversation she had had with her grandmother. She had asked her grandmother how she had stayed married for so long. Her grandmother replied, "I had sisters". She didn't get it until later in life. I get it. I agree with it.

I love Hill. We understand each other.

This is before dinner. The grand kids with their In-n-Out burger hats from Cali.

Our dinner! Crab.

Yes, we wore the bibs.

The shark hanging on the ceiling.

Beautifuls!

Washed out by the end of the night. But had to include it. Is that sweatshirt from Aberdeen?

Happy Birthday to two of my all time favorite people.

Belated Birthday Post

For Mom's B-day this year we took the kids down to a great little beach on the Columbia River.

It's one of the things that I love most about her, she is so active and loves to be with her grand kids.

The walkway to the beach.
Avery later ditched the skirt for a more 'white trash' underwear look....

Auri is such a little gem.

A huge barge that went by:

One of my Favorite People in the World: The Birthday girl.
How cool are we?? A Ducati shirt and a Nirvana shirt!

Took this one, I like to call it the Kjrsten from "Have a cute day" blog inspired. She loves a good rock band shirt.
I'm so glad you are MY mom!! I'm glad you were born on this day. I'm glad you taught me a love of being active. I admire your sense of selflessness. I envy your ability to rarely complain. I love your striped shirts. I love you.
Happy Birthday.
